Italian, English, German and Swedish pensioners received a gift from their own country. Actually, thanks to an agreement with Portugal, all pensioners who will live 6 months and one day, with a proper rental contract, can get a tax relief, corresponding to the IRPEF in Italy. The retirement pension becomes then more substantial and life more affordable. In addition, we cannot deny that Portugal is a beautiful country, rich in culture and traditions, sunny and also bathed by the sea, or rather by the ocean along its length.
Looking closer, these characteristics could be assigned to the South of Italy a hundredfold. Therefore, politicians and professors, especially during the deployment of the League, have made the same offer.
The 400,000 pensioners a year, attracted by Portugal act as a driving force for the economy. The countries that have allowed this favour will obviously see their tax rates go down, as well as the number of jobs.
The news went around the newspapers and we realized that in fact, this phenomenon is ongoing even if it is not promoted by the Italian laws. But that does not correspond to reality. The reason is simple. Between Italy and Portugal, there is a gap regarding health policy. Just think of the Italian organisation and the fact that anyone can use the health system through a capillary network.
But this is not enough, if we are very critical about our country; our nation is perhaps the most advanced in the world in many ways. We have already talked about health, but there are other aspects such as food and culture of the territory in all its splendour. It is unthinkable that those who move from abroad do not take advantage of this beautiful country for longer periods. This is why we think that travelling abroad always includes a return trip.
Regarding Sardinia, where conditions are showing definitive choices and are substantially improving, there is a difference. Foreign pensioners who choose this option are enjoying a standard of living that is quite higher. The real estate market is recording this trend. House prices are still considered a great deal, both for the prospect of improvement and investments increase as for the assurance of tourist flows that can only be rewarded.
